ResMed S8 AutoSet II Auto CPAP & H4i Humidifier

The S8 AutoSet II features ResMed’s new EPR with Easy-Breathe technology, which makes exhalation over pressure far more comfortable. ResMed’s quickly responding AutoSet algorithm combined with comfortable pressure delivery at a lower fan speed, the AutoSet II is 75% quieter and more comfortable than the previous model.

The S8 II series is ultra compact and easy to travel with. Its lean chassis and palm shaped foot print measures only 6.5 in wide and 5.7 in deep, allowing it to stow nicely in luggage. The S8 AutoSet II can be run from a DC (battery) source with the optional DC-12 converter so you can sleep well while traveling or camping. The optional integrated heated humidifier simply clips onto the front of the CPAP to make convenient one-piece design.

What is EPR (expiratory pressure relief)?

It is the most advanced compliance booster available for continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy. EPR provides your patients the highest level of comfort without compromising the effectiveness of therapy.

Why use EPR?

Some patients find it difficult to breathe against the continuous pressure of CPAP therapy. EPR solves this problem by dropping pressure during exhalation, making the patient feel that their exhalation is more natural and comfortable.

How does EPR work?

When the patient exhales, the S8 flow generator detects the beginning of exhalation and reduces motor speed to drop pressure. The patient or clinician chooses one of three comfort levels to determine the degree by which pressure will drop:

Setting 1 - mild comfort (1 cm H2O)
Setting 2 - medium comfort (2 cm H2O)
Setting 3 - maximum comfort (3 cm H2O)

Not all APAP devices deliver similar outcomes. The AutoSet™; technology tailors therapy to a patient´s needs, breath-by-breath, night-by-night, and year-by-year even as their therapy requirements change.
